Prof Reddy has 32 years experience working in development both at individual, organisational, policy and community levels. Much of this has been as the founding Director of the Health Promotion Research and Development Unit at the South African Medical Research Council (MRC);  at the Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC); Provost Visiting Professor at Imperial; and currently Honorary Professor at the Business School, Imperial. Throughout the last 30 years Prof Reddy has intentionally promoted transformation working at macro and micro levels through diversity, equality and inclusion activities. This took the form of training doctoral level candidates from historically disadvantaged communities; as well as promoting and conducting research in disadvantaged populations.Prof Reddy is currently providing scientific, methodological, coaching and mentorship support to Fellow at Imperial Faculty of Medicine on a Welcome Trust EDI Grant.

She has experience in working intersectorally using research evidence to inform policy development for the South Africa Government in fields such tobacco control, HIV/AIDS, adolescent health and development, and most recently the social aspects of covid-19.

In the course of such studies, she has demonstrated proven ability to successfully raise and effectively manage donor funds from the most prestigious agencies in the world such as WHO and the National Institutes of Health of the USA.

She is a Member of the Academy of Science in South Africa; and recipient of HSRC-USAF Medal in Social Sciences and Humanities 2021 recognising excellence in social sciences research during the COVID-19 pandemic; and was awarded the National Science and Technology Foundation Research Capacity Development Award (NSTF) 2004.
